Dr. Alexandros Kapsalis

 

Dr. Alexandros Kapsalis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1978. He received the B.S.degree in Informatics & Telecommunications, the M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications and his PhD in Optical Communication Devices from the University of Athens, Athens, Greece, in 2002, 2004 and 2010, respectively.

The title of his thesis was: "Optical microring devices for optical networks: Investigation, design and characterization"

He is currently a post doc researcher in the Optical Communications Laboratory of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). His scientific interests include photonic design, novel optical devices, silicon photonics and all-optical signal processing. His other areas of interest include semiconductor lasers, waveguiding properties of semiconductor materials optomechanical systems and system automation.

He has been actively engaged in many national and EU projects and has co-authored 20 publications in prestigious scientific journals and conferences. He is also serving as a reviewer for IEEE and Elsevier journals.
